Bank holidays in India are days on which banks and financial institutions are officially closed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes the official list each year, and dates vary slightly between states. Major nationwide bank holidays include Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, and Holi, alongside regional and religious observances. The Holidays API provides Indian bank holiday data going back to 2005 and forward through 2039.
