The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes the official list each year, and dates vary slightly between states. Major nationwide bank holidays include Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, and Holi, alongside regional and religious observances. The Holidays API provides Indian bank holiday data going back to 2005 and forward through 2039.

Returns every bank holiday observed in India for the specified year. Use the country ISO code IN to retrieve India bank closures.

Parameters

  • country  required

    Country name or ISO 3166-2 country code. Use IN for India.

  • year  optional premium only

    Calendar year between 1980 and 2050. Defaults to the current year.

A JSON array of objects with the following fields, or an error if the request is unsuccessful.

  • name

    Name of the bank holiday.

  • date

    Date in YYYY-MM-DD format.

  • country

    ISO 3166 alpha-2 country code (e.g. IN).

    Year of the bank holiday.
