Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, but you must have a premium subscription. Commercial use of the Powerball API is not permitted on the free tier. See our pricing page to choose a plan that fits your needs.
  • Sign up for a free account to instantly get your API key, then pass it in the X-Api-Key header on every request. The documentation above includes ready-to-run examples in cURL, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, and more.
  • Your API requests will simply be denied once you hit your monthly quota — you will never be charged more than the plan you signed up for. To increase your quota, you can upgrade your plan any time on our pricing page.
  • The API responds with a standard HTTP status code and a JSON error message describing the problem. See our error codes reference for the full list of codes and how to resolve each one, or contact support if you need help.
  • No. The Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs Powerball, does not publish a public developer API. The API Ninjas Lottery API provides Powerball results, jackpots and history from official state lottery publications. API Ninjas is not affiliated with or endorsed by Powerball or MUSL.
  • Call /v1/lottery?game=powerball. The response includes the five white balls, the Powerball, the Power Play multiplier, the Double Play numbers, the jackpot for that draw and the estimated jackpot for the next draw.
  • Our archive starts with the draw of 3 February 2010. Every draw records the rules in force on its date in rules_version, because the number format changed twice in that period: in January 2012 (Powerball range 1 to 35) and in October 2015 (white balls 1 to 69, Powerball 1 to 26).
  • Yes, on paid plans: /v1/lotterycheck?game=powerball&date=2026-10-05&numbers=16,23,32,1,2&bonus=9&power_play=true&double_play=true returns the matched tier and prize for the main draw and the Double Play draw. Ticket numbers are never stored.

API Ninjas is not affiliated with or endorsed by any lottery operator. Powerball and Mega Millions are trademarks of their respective owners. Results are collected from official public lottery publications; in any discrepancy the official lottery's records prevail, so always verify winning tickets with the official lottery.
